recognizable tourist sites in the city. Four griffins hold on their chains the light, openwork construction of the bridge, from which an unforgettable view of the Kazan Cathedral, Nevsky Prospekt, Singer&#8217;s House, and the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood opens. This is one of the three suspension bridges of St. Petersburg that have survived to our time.<\/p>\n<p>The bridge was built in 1825-26 according to the design of V.K. Tretter and V.A. Khristianovich to provide an approach to the building of the Assignation Bank (now St. Petersburg State University of Economics).<\/p>\n<p>The decorative design of the Bank Bridge was handled by the then-famous sculptor P.P. Sokolov, who \u201csettled\u201d many animals and mythical creatures on the bridges and buildings of St. Petersburg.
