The Gorky Palace of Culture is a famous theater and concert venue. All the leading theaters in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of the country, starting with the Vsevolod Meyerhold Theater (1927), showed their best performances on the stage of the Palace of Culture.
In the early years of the Palace, Vladimir Mayakovsky repeatedly performed here. The scene of the Palace remembers Zinaida Reich and Alice Koonen, Erast Garin and Igor Ilyinsky, Claudius Shulzhenko and Leonid Utesov. A plaque on the wall of the Palace of Culture reports that for many years the incomparable Arkady Raikin has pleased the public here. Popularly beloved artists have performed on the glorious stages of the Gorky Palace of Culture: Andrei Mironov, Anatoly Papanov, Oleg Basilashvili, Gennady Khazanov, Valery Zolotukhin, Evgeny Leonov, Oleg Yankovsky, Alexander Abdulov, Nikolai Karachentsev, Alisa Freindlikh and many others.
The Palace is proud of its Large Theater Hall, which seats about two thousand spectators. This magnificent building was carefully restored and equipped with modern equipment for the 80th anniversary of the Palace of Culture. In addition, the Palace has a small theater hall with 300 seats and a concert hall with 120 seats.
